What Back-To-School Means To Me by Candace Thomas

et-luxe-with-kids-1sAs a full time stay at home mom of two little boys, our summer vacation days are filled with swimming, popsicles, bike rides, and movie nights. As much as our entire family loves this special time together, when back-to-school season arrives, we are all ready for our routines to get back into gear.

“Back-to-school” has become synonymous with new backpacks and sneakers, and for us stay at home moms, it’s also the season when our houses are suddenly quiet for hours on end. The first few days of kids back in school I intermittently rejoice in the solitude and simultaneously miss my kids terribly, but then I find my new routine, too.

First stop: the gym. Whether I take a high intensity spin class, stretch out in a yoga class, or enjoy a long walk outside, I am at my best as a mom when I consistently work out.

Next up: some adult conversation. Whether it is catching up with a girlfriend over a cup of coffee, volunteering my time, or attending a luncheon benefiting a local charity, I enjoy the chance to spend time with other active women in our community.

And finally, my absolute favorite part about back-to-school season is that it indicates the true changing of seasons, which of course means sweater weather! I dream all summer long of layering knits and patterns paired with new boots, and can’t wait until the Houston weather allows us to wear the new fall trends!

I look forward to new fall looks at Elaine Turner that are full of gorgeous colors, patterns and textures and embody everything I love about fall fashion. The looks on the top on my list include the lightweight Joy Tunic in Jaguar under the incredible softness and warmth of a long cashmere cardigan.

The Lilou Crossbody is the perfect size for carrying everything a mom needs around town while still looking stylish.et-luxe-with-kids-2s

And what Texas fall look is complete without some boots? The Sissy Bootie in buff is a mid-calf, sueded cowgirl style which is as comfortable to wear as it is attractive.

For a finishing touch, I’m accessorizing this chic and casual outfit with a long statement necklace and chain wrap bracelet for a little sparkle of gold.
