Hi My Friends-
I loved summer as a child and, like most kids, my enthusiasm for returning to school waned as August came to a close. But one thing kept me going – back-to-school shopping – and I always knew it was time when the fat September issue of Vogue hit newsstands.
Fast forward to today and my excitement for fall remains as my company ushers in this season’s new lines in shoes, apparel, handbags and accessories. This week we’ve hosted fall launch parties at my stores where I get to engage with my customer first hand to see what catches her eye and how she interprets new styles. It is so satisfying and thrilling to see the designs we created a year ago actually in customers’ hands.
So I apologize my intro for September on the blog is a little late. In addition to the launch parties, I’ve been going full throttle with the back-to-school activities. But no worries. We’ve got an exciting month ahead full of sage advice and inspiration.
We touch on all things related to fall fashion: trends, inspiration and key looks that take you across all areas of your life, and we’ll be talking to some of our favorite gurus in the home, beauty and fashion world, like Laura Umansky and Aubrie Layne. We will also be hearing from our favorite experts on how to remain in the flow, stay in the present moment and take care of ourselves during this hectic fall season.
We are coining this month’s theme: A New Season, A New You. Even though it still feels hot and humid, there is a feeling in the air of change, transitions and new beginnings. For many of us, heading into the fall season can be a mixture of excitement and stress. But the security and predictability of our everyday routines begins to take shape once again bringing welcomed relief. “I have my life back” is a common refrain.
All this talk of new fashions and a new (school) year really got me thinking about style. While fashions comprise style, style is so much more than fashion and trends. Whether you are cognizant of it or not, style is how you express yourself. Style insists that you know yourself, demands confidence and eschews fear. It is all about originality.
So whether your style is minimalist, boho-chic, or eclectic, embrace who you are and enjoy expressing yourself this fall!
